Schakt/Feeding Monsters
Dance institution Norrdans treats us to an evening in two-parts:
a modern classic by Per Jonsson, followed by Felix Landerer´s fresh
new work Feeding Monsters.
In the autumn of 2011, Norrdans will present a modern classic in
its genre - Schakt by Per Jonsson - one of
the best Swedish choreographies of all time. The evening's second
work is a collaboration between Norrdans and one of Europe's
hottest choreographers, Felix Landerer. It is the brand
new Feeding Monsters, which will have its world
première on 6 October, set to music by Christof Littmann.
Schakt by Per Jonsson premièred at the Cirkus
performance venue in Stockholm in 1983. The performance with three
male dancers and Peter Bengtson's suggestive music had an enormous
impact on audiences. Schakt is characterised
by Per Jonsson's intenseness and emotion and so requires strong,
physical dancers. After several successful productions in Sweden,
it is now Norrdans's turn to bring this wonderful work to
life.
Feeding Monsters, a piece for eight dancers, is the
first work that Landerer has ever created for a Swedish company.
His choreographic style is characterised by humorous elements,
beautiful movement harmonies, and inventive compositions and
aesthetics. Landerer won first prize in the international
choreography competition held in Hanover in April 2010, as well as
the production prize awarded by Scapino Ballet Rotterdam and its
artistic director Ed Wubbe. Landerer currently works in Hanover,
Germany, where he creates a number of choreographies each year for
theatre Commedia Futura.
