Ulrika Gunnarsson Trio
Whirling Swedish traditional dancing tunes. Rhytmic frolicking
and captivating swing. Anyone who thinks that singing trall is
simple will likely think again after hearing Ulrika Gunnarsson.
Don´t miss her here in Umeå with her very own trio!
While there's a little bit of everything in Ulrika Gunnarsson's musical repertoire, it is folk music from the Swedish province of Småland that takes pride of place. For many years now she has specialised in singing trall melodies - the vocal equivalent of the folk musician's music - where the voice is used as an instrument.
"Ulrika Gunnarsson has replaced the fiddle with vocal trall and does it so brilliantly and so beautifully that she would put the most alluring siren to shame. "This is big," wrote Ulf Johansson in daily Göteborgsposten after the release of the album Trall two years ago.
Well-known folk musicians Esbjörn Hazelius on the cittern and fiddle and Anders Löfberg on the fiddle, cello and contra bass combine with Gunnarsson to form Ulrika Gunnarsson Trio. Get ready for one captivating concert!
The evening will continue right after the concert with traditional dancing to music provided by musicians from Umeå Folkmusikförening (the Association of Folk Music in Umeå), Umeå Spelmanslag (Umeå Fiddlers' Club), Folksmedjan and others.
In collaboration with the Association of Folk Music in Umeå and Bilda education association.
