Norrlandsoperan presents the Nutcracker in a way you’ve never seen it before. John the Houseband, a performance group from various parts of Europe, has picked apart and re-assembled the beloved christmas ballet into a humorous and energetic performance.
So. Together with the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra, John the Houseband creates a new version of the Nutcracker where tradition meets modern, pop meets classics and performance meets ballet – but without ballerinas.

“We’re in a galaxy far, far away from the original Nutcracker where we’ve made an entirely new story. There are no characters from the original version – all the characters are nuts. A spacenut ship with John the Nutband lands on planet Nutcracker. After a difficult landing and what seems to be a dramatic encounter, the expedition turns into a joyful discovery of the orchestra, the theater and the balletic material of Tchaikovskys Nutcracker. The Nuts will make cover versions and newly made choreographies to the original score. Finally, they decide to plant some seeds and bring new life into the world”. /John the Houseband
