From first impulse to finished work<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Jefta van Dinther gives a personal and in-depth lecture on his artistry at Norrlandsoperan. Based on more than 20 years of work, he examines the central issues that have shaped his practice, with a particular focus on how ideas arise, develop and take shape \u2013 from the first impulse to the finished work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lecture highlights how Jephthah’s works are strongly contextualized in their time and in dialogue with the world around us. Through concrete examples, he shows an artistic genealogy where body, movement and thought are woven together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A special space is devoted to Mercury Rising<\/a><\/em> and the ideas about language, communication, corporeality, movement and abstraction that the work has given rise to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Jefta van Dinther<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Jefta van Dinther is a Swedish-Dutch choreographer and dancer, active in Stockholm and Berlin. He studied at the Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK) and has since 2008 created several performances that have toured internationally. During 2019 \u2013 2022, van Dinther was an associate choreographer with Cullberg. Among his most acclaimed works are Plateau Effect, Protagonist, Dark Field Analysis, Unearth<\/em> and REMACHINE.<\/em> In 2016, Dancenet Sweden toured his work THIS IS CONCRETE,<\/em> and he has also created choreography for the music video Monument<\/em> by Robyn & R\u00f6yksopp. Van Dinther has been the artistic director of the master’s program in choreography at the Stockholm School of Dance and Circus (DOCH) between 2012 and 2014 and has been awarded the Birgit Cullberg scholarship and the Swedish Theatre Critics’ Dance Prize. His work is characterized by a strong desire to explore the relationship between people, society, the environment and other life forms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2025, Jefta van Dinther was funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion and the Swedish Arts Council, Sweden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
