Sami Culture and Joik<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Sara Ajnnak is an artist, joik singer, songwriter, and composer from Gargn\u00e4s in V\u00e4sterbotten. She grew up in the reindeer herding community and has delved deeper than most into reclaiming and revitalizing joik and her S\u00e1mi cultural heritage. With a series of acclaimed and award-winning full-length albums, as well as international concert tours, she is today a powerful voice for S\u00e1mi culture, combining her artistic expression with a deep commitment to indigenous issues. In January, she will embark on a workshop tour for children and young people in the inland municipalities of V\u00e4sterbotten, together with Julla M\u00e1jja\u2014the S\u00e1mi library bus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sara meets with elementary school students\u2014from preschool through middle school\u2014and talks about Sami culture and sings joiks with the children.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
