An Unforgettable Opera Celebration on the Twelfth Day of Christmas<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

During the Thirteen Days of Christmas, the Norrlandsoperan opens its doors for a dazzling, high-class opera gala featuring carefully selected highlights for both opera connoisseurs and newcomers. Swedish rising star Rebecka Wallroth makes her debut at the Norrlands Opera, and her male counterpart is tenor Per Lindstr\u00f6m, a familiar face to the residents of Ume\u00e5. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evening begins in the<\/em>true spirit of La Scala<\/em>, with the splendor of Italian music. Rebecka Wallroth sets the tone with the famous Rossini aria \u201cUna voce poco fa\u201d from *The Barber of Seville*, followed <\/em>by the duet \u201cUn soave non so che\u201d from *Cinderella* by <\/em>the same composer. Next, the program features another soprano piece from the bel canto repertoire, this time from Bellini\u2019s opera *I Capuleti e i Montecchi<\/em>*. The first set concludes in grand style with Per Lindstr\u00f6m performing Puccini\u2019s beloved tenor arias \u201cE lucevan le stelle\u201d from *Tosca*<\/em> and \u201cChe gelida manina\u201d from *La Boh\u00e8me*.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After intermission, we leave lovely Italy behind for an equally lovely\u2014though more German- and French-influenced\u2014second half of the concert. Wagner kicks things off with the overture to *Tannh\u00e4user*<\/em>, in which the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra gets a chance to shine especially brightly. Per Lindstr\u00f6m follows with arias from Mozart\u2019s *The Magic Flute*<\/em> and Bizet\u2019s *Carmen<\/em>*. But more *Weltschmerz*<\/em> is on the program: Rebecka Wallroth excels in a wistful aria from Massenet\u2019s *Werther* before <\/em>the evening takes a lighter turn. The program concludes with two operetta gems. There will be Wallroth-style beautiful singing from Johann Strauss\u2019s *Die Fledermaus*<\/em>, and as the icing on the cake, a sparkling duet from Leh\u00e1r\u2019s immortal *The Merry Widow<\/em>*. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the podium is German conductor Nikolas N\u00e4gele, who most recently guest-conducted in Ume\u00e5 during the production of *The Italian Girl in Algiers<\/em>*. The concert will be hosted by the multi-talented musician and actress Tina Ahlin. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
