Magic at the grand piano<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The Italian composer Luciano Berio (1925-2003) helped set the tone for post-war art music, not least with his groundbreaking electronic works. At the end of the eighties, he took on Franz Schubert’s unfinished symphony, the one he had begun but never completed due to his failing health. Schubert died in 1828, only 31 years old. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Rendering, which is now being performed for the first time in Ume\u00e5, we hear Berio carefully fill in the gaps and the unfinished parts, with motifs and quotations that he has found in the more solid parts of the symphony. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will also be an Ume\u00e5 premiere for Jennifer Higdon’s (born 1962) work Peachtree street, which opens the concert. It is the third and independent part of her orchestral work City Scape, in which she paints a vivid picture of her childhood city of Atlanta with music. In other words, this is also a declaration of love. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The friend who assisted Beethoven at the grand piano at the premiere of his third piano concerto, in 1803, could tell us afterwards that several of the pages were completely empty. The fact that he eventually finished writing the score is to be regarded as an act of love to us future music lovers. This evening we hear it interpreted by the French pianist, Lise de la Salle (born 1988), who has toured internationally since the age of twelve. The orchestra is led by Norrlandsoperan’s chief conductor, Eduardo Strausser. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Restaurant Owner<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Catering in the spring of 2025<\/strong>In the spring, Norrlandsoperan will once again have a restaurant in the building. Right now, a procurement process is underway for a new restaurateur who will also be in charge of the intermission service at our concerts and performances. We are really looking forward to being able to present who will be our new restaurateur at Norrlandsoperan.

Refreshments in connection with the performance<\/strong>From March onwards, we will be assisted by Novas with catering in connection with performances and concerts. You can hereby buy coffee and other goodies one hour before the start and during the intermission. The menu includes various drinks, homemade pastries and homemade pies, sandwiches and sandwich cake (the selection may vary). While waiting for a serving license, non-alcoholic beverages are served.

Pre-order intermission refreshments<\/strong>From April, you can also pre-order your intermission refreshments to avoid queues and secure a reserved table where your order is served. More information will be available to those who have bought tickets for events in April and onwards.

Norrlandsoperan<\/strong> has been searching for a new restaurant operator for some time, and we look forward to introducing our new restaurant operator later this spring. The restaurant will open in early summer, offering food, drinks, and a great atmosphere. The opera house will once again become a vibrant and welcoming place.
