Oona Doherty 

Oona Doherty är en dansare och koreograf baserad i Nordirland. Utbildad vid London School of Contemporary Dance, University of Ulster och LABAN London har hon erhållit både BA-utmärkelser och doktorsexamen i samtida dansstudier.

Oona har stått på scenen sedan 2010 och samarbetat med kompanier så som TRASH (NL) Abbattoir Ferme (BE) och Veronika Riz (IT). Nu skapar hon egna verk som fått stor framgång både nationellt och internationellt.

Sandrine Lescourant

Sandrine Lescourant, mer känd som ”Mufasa”, är en fransk dansare och koreograf. Uppvuxen i Paris förort upptäckte hon tidigt balett och därefter samtida dans och Mandingue (traditionell dans från Mali). Men det var strax efter hon avslutat sin utbildning som hon förälskade sig i hiphopkulturen och involverade sig i battles och hiphopens underground scen.

Mufasa har arbetat med ett flertal erkända koreografer, så som Thierry Surace, Sylvain Groud, Anthony Egéa, Amala Dianor och Oona Doherty. Hon driver även sitt eget danskompani Kilaï som just nu färdigställer sitt tredje verk acoustic.

Hope Hunt & the Ascension into Lazarus

Between dance, theatre and social commentary, the Belfast-based performer and choreographer Oona Doherty and the dancer Sandrine Lescourant dismantle the stereotype of the working-class male. Under the dazzling stage lights, she utilises this intuitive, impressionistic dance-theatre to explore the experiences and feelings of disaffected male youth: Chavs, neds, smicks, petty criminals and thugs. Magnificently inventive and uncannily sensitive, this work invites audiences to look behind the mask of social expectations and moral concepts and question social and cultural norms. Until finally that which actually connects all of us across all gender expressions – the eternal search for truth, hope and love – becomes visible.

Hope Hunt & the Ascension into Lazarus is an intelligent and deeply moving confrontation with the ideas of masculinity and vulnerability. Oona Doherty has already picked up numerous awards and festival invitations for this amazing solo performance, to which she has given a new dimension this summer together with the dancer Sandrine Lescourant.
