Följ med på en ljudvandring längs Umeälven med guidning från Australien!
Långt innan vi människor fanns rann älvarna över jordklotet. Den australiensiska konstnären Geoff Robinson tar med oss på en unik ljudvandring där vi färdas genom tider och över världsdelar, samtidigt som vi promenerar längst Umeälven. Berättelsen börjar i konstnärens hemort, Melbourne och flodsystemet Birrarung med utlopp i Nairm, men relaterar samtidigt till Umeälven och dess utflöde i Bottenviken. De två vattendragen möts i laddade frågor om geologi, kolonialism och miljöförändringar, samtidigt som vår vandring bildar en slags levande karta som vi kan bära med oss efteråt.

Durational Situation Ume River / Birrarung by Geoff Robinson
Join an audio hike along the Ume River guidance from Australia!
Long before humans existed, rivers flowed across the planet’s surface. Australian artist Geoff Robinson takes us on a unique audio hike where we travel through time and across continents as we walk along the Ume River. Geoff’s story begins in the artist’s hometown of Melbourne and the Birrarung river system that flows out to a bay known as Nairm (Port Philip Bay), and he draws clear parallels to the Ume River and its meandering journey into the Gulf of Bothnia. The two watercourses converge and bring important questions concerning geology, colonialism and environmental change to the surface, while the hike itself forms a kind of living map that we can carry forwards with us.
What you need to bring: Fully-charged mobile phone and earphones
You can go for a walk at any time during Verkligheten Gallery’s opening hours on Saturday, 4th September between 12:00 -16:00, and Sunday, 5th September between 12: 00–16: 00.
Each walk takes approximately 25 minutes..
Start at the Verkligheten Gallery, located at Pilgatan 16 (in the east of the city). Here you will be given access to an audio file and receive further instructions.
