Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra is seeking First concertmaster/leader
The position is shared between two equal concert masters. Full time is equivalent to 110 days/year.

The audition takes place in Norrlandsoperan’s main Concert Hall, Umeå.
Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra is seeking to fill the position of first concert master with experience in orchestral leadership, chamber music and as a soloist. We are looking for a candidate who is committed to orchestral playing at the highest level, have strong leadership qualities and play an active role in the life of the orchestra.
- Mozart: Violin Concerto no.3 in G major, no. 4 in D major or no. 5 in A major, 1st with cadenza.
- Beethoven, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn or Sibelius: Violin Concerto, 1st with cadenza. Orchestral excerpts.
- The audition will include a ca. 20 min workshop with the string section. Repertoire for this part will be released together with the orchestral excerpts.
Orchestral excerpts will be made available for download from Norrlandsoperan’s website after application deadline.

The position is permanent with a one year trial period, employment will commence January 2018 (position 1)/ August 2018 (position 2), or after personal agreement. Non-EU citizens require a work and residence permit. University level education, relevant and recent professional experience are required to apply.
DATE OF AUDITION:
December 1st 2017, the audition will take place in the main concert hall at Norrlandsoperan, Umeå, Sweden.

Round 2: Orchestral excerpts
Round 3: Ensemble tests
Rounds 1 & 2 will be conducted behind a screen and the rounds will follow the above plan but we reserve the right to add orchestral excerpts in Round 1. The ensemble tests (Round 3) will be conducted in front of the jury, the screen will be taken away. A pianist will be provided.
