Award-winning interpretation of Nordic folk music

Mojna weaves improvisation and counterpoint into their innovative take on Nordic folk music. Using guitar, hardanger fiddle, and bass clarinet, they have created an original sound that has earned them numerous awards and nominations.

The trio’s second album, “Väntenätter,” was released in the summer of 2024 and earned composer Thomas Eriksson the “Composer of the Year” award at the 2025 Folk and World Music Gala. Norway’s NRK gave it a rare top rating of “6 out of 6.”

Performers: Thomas Eriksson – composition/guitar, Anna Malmström – clarinet/bass clarinet, Tuva Færden – hardanger fiddle

“Just as before, there are plenty of strong compositions here, quiet beauty, but also some energy here and there. Anna Malmström’s bass clarinet rumbles softly yet is at times powerful, and Thomas Eriksson’s guitar playing constantly shifts between melodies and intricate accompaniment. New to the trio is Tuva Færden on the hardanger fiddle, who is clearly in exactly the right place.”
