The Firebird and The Four Seasons
Experience an extraordinary evening as the acclaimed French company Malandain Ballet Biarritz visits the Norrlandsoperan with two works that combine power, elegance, and musicality at the highest level. On stage are 22 dancers, all classically trained but with a contemporary expression that has become characteristic of Thierry Malandain’s refined and poetic style. The music is performed live by the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra.
The evening begins with *The Firebird*, danced to Igor Stravinsky’s iconic music. Here, Malandain highlights the work’s timeless themes—light, hope, and transformation—in a neoclassical interpretation where the dance embodies Stravinsky’s sparkling rhythms and dramatic palette.
Act Two features *The Four Seasons*, a playful and magnificent choreographic tapestry by two Baroque masters: Antonio Vivaldi and the lesser-known but brilliant Giovanni Antonio Guido. The music moves from the familiar to the surprising, creating a rich, poetic backdrop for Malandain’s harmonious and energetic choreography. An evening that uplifts, moves, and lingers in the memory. We hope you’ll be there when the curtain rises!
