Interactive performance in 19 languages

KOREOGRAFIN is an interactive performance that relies on audience participation. By following instructions through headphones, the audience collectively creates KOREOGRAFIN. Using imaginary hamsters, confetti, and bold movements, the performance explores how the way we move can influence what we think and feel.

THE CHOREOGRAPHY is available in 19 languages. Each person chooses for themselves which language they want to listen to. In other words, people who don’t speak a word of the same language can participate in the same performance and interact on equal terms. Since its premiere in 2016, KOREOGRAFIN has been performed over 700 times around the world.

The Jury’s Rationale

The production was selected for Ice Hot and Young Swedstage 2022, as well as for Bibu 2018, with the following rationale:

“Here, we as the audience have the opportunity to switch roles. Instead of being observers, we become co-creators. With the choreographers guiding us through headphones, we’re asked to participate using our own bodies as tools, in a safe space where we quickly realize that we can’t go wrong—where all our movements are right.”

We discover that our morning routines are actually choreographed sequences. We move together; we create shared worlds. It is a performance or an experience, but it is also a physical experience—an exploration of what movement is and what the body can express. This is interactive performing arts that brings us joy, inspires us, and allows everyone involved to be, for a brief moment, co-creators of something that feels big in the small.”
