Three vocal soloists offer a mixed program

At Umeå Music Society’s traditional November/Christmas concert, three vocal soloists will participate this year. These are Barbro Citron soprano, who has studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and who will return to Umeå already in January and February next year to participate in Rossini’s opera Cinderella. Ella Vahtra’s mezzo-soprano, who has studied at the Opera Studio in Kapellsberg in Härnösand, the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and who in 2025 received her master’s degree at the Academy of Music in Piteå. This year she is studying at Operastudio Norrlandsoperan (ONO) and will make her debut there on November 27 as Pepiček in the children’s opera Brundibar. Gustav Ekmark is a bass-baritone who studied at the Academy of Music in Piteå and has taken a bachelor’s and master’s degree. Gustav received the 2024 Royal Skyttean Society Prize for a young musician.

The audience will be treated to a mix of familiar Christmas melodies, opera arias and duets, film music mixed with orchestral music by the music company.
