Director and Artistic Director of Norrlandsoperan, Dan Turdén, and Chief Conductor Eduardo Strausser invite you to an in-depth introduction to Tristan and Isolde. Richard Wagner’s monumental love drama premieres on Norrlandsoperan’s Main Stage on 25 October and runs until 22 November 2025.

Dan Turdén leads the conversation with parts of the artistic team about the work on the production. The conversation is partly in English.

Musical samples of singers from the opera are given with piano accompaniment during the evening.

Tristan and Isolde 25 Oct–22 Nov

The opera of the operas, Richard Wagner’s delirium of love Tristan and Isolde, takes over the Norrland Opera. The work has horrified moralists and captivated audiences for almost 160 years. The chaste knight’s tale of Tristan, who cannot possibly be reconciled with his Isolde, is charged in Wagner’s garb with an undercurrent of erotic power – it is daring and maxed out – just as a Wagner opera should be. Don’t miss this year’s cultural event.

Highlights version

The performance has three acts and is almost five hours long including two intermissions. At Norrlandsoperan, Tristan and Isolde is also performed in an abridged version that is 2 hours and 30 minutes long incl. 30 minutes long, with musical highlights and where a narrator, Hannes Meidal from the Royal Dramatic Theatre, fills in the gaps in the story.
