Open House at the Norrlands Opera

It’s finally time for another open house at the Norrlandsoperan. A day when, from lunchtime through the late afternoon, we’ll keep our doors open and invite you to experience everything happening at our opera house. The day is packed with musical, dance-filled, and generally fun activities for the whole family. A warm welcome to the Norrlandsoperan!

Family Performance

A warm welcome to Northern Sweden’s opera house

Guided tours of the building’s studios and workshops, art in the White Cube, music and opera for the very youngest, a family concert, dance performances, and sing-alongs with the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra are just a few of the things visitors can experience when Norrlandsoperan holds its open house. The entire day is free of charge, but some activities require advance booking of free tickets.

Even outside on the opera grounds, visitors will be able to enjoy music from “Balkongbrass,” a septet from the brass section of the Norrlands Opera Symphony Orchestra; once inside, the day is filled with activities for both adults and families with children.

Throughout the day, children can enjoy costume try-ons with a selfie station, a Silent Disco (for adults, too), a trivia game, balloons, and candy. In the bistro, you can also grab a quick and enjoyable snack!

Reservations starting August 12

Some performances require you to reserve a free ticket. Otherwise, it’s first-come, first-served. If a performance is fully booked, you can join the walk-in line.

Be on time!

Your free ticket is valid only until 10 minutes before the start; after that, any remaining seats will be offered to those in the walk-in line.

The festivities begin outside on Opera Square with a lively performance by Balcony Brass, a septet from our brass section. Once inside, the building is filled with exciting activities for both adults and families with children.

Throughout the day, children are invited to try on costumes at our selfie station, join a Silent Disco (adults are welcome too), take part in a fun quiz walk, and enjoy balloons and treats. The bistro will also be open for a cozy and tasty fika. Welcome!
