For dancers, dance teachers, and educators
EduDance is aimed at dancers, dance teachers, and educators in Västerbotten, Norrbotten, Jämtland/Härjedalen, and Västernorrland. During EduDance, you’ll have the opportunity to meet Shirley Harthey Ubilla, who will lead a hip-hop workshop; Katarina Lundmark, who will give a lecture and lead a workshop; and Emma Nyberg, who will lead a seminar and workshop on dance math. Come and be inspired alongside your dance-industry colleagues from the northern counties!
Program
DAY 1, Wednesday, August 14
Around 12:00 p.m. – Meet up for lunch together.
The day continues with lectures and workshops until about 5:30 p.m.

- Katarina Lundmark, associate professor and program director for jazz dance at SKH.
- Shirley Harthey Ubilla, lead street dance instructor at SKH, freelance choreographer and performer.
DAY 2, Thursday, August 15
Around 9:00 a.m. – Kickoff
The day will include a lecture, workshops, and group discussions/sharing sessions. The day will end around 12:30 p.m.

More about
Shirley Harthey Ubilla studied at the Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH) and Åsa Folk High School. Since 2018, they have been working as the lead instructor for street dance at SKH and freelancing as a choreographer and performer. They teach locking and hip-hop. Her teaching places a strong emphasis on rocking, bounce, and groove, as well as on understanding various basic steps. The concepts and settings of “Each One Teach One” and “Cipher” are integral to her teaching.
Katarina Lundmark is an associate professor and program coordinator for jazz dance at the Department of Dance Education at DOCH, the School of Dance and Circus, which is part of SKH, the Stockholm University of the Arts. She also works as a program coordinator for the Bachelor’s Program in Dance Education and at the Department of Circus.
About the workshop with Katarina:
Jazz dance improvisation with a focus on the joy of dance and inspiration! How can a dance class be structured, whether it focuses on technique, musicality, or experience?
About the lecture with Katarina:
Based on SKH’s revision of the bachelor’s program, Katarina will give a lecture on how dance education should, can, and must be adapted to our contemporary world. Don’t miss this exciting discussion on the development of the art of dance and dance pedagogy.
Emma Nyberg is a certified elementary school teacher (grades F–6) and currently works as a middle school teacher. Before pursuing her teaching degree, she spent most of her life in dance studios and at dance schools, where she worked both as a dance instructor and as the coordinator of dance classes. By using dance as a tool for learning math, Emma combines her extensive dance experience with her current teaching profession.
About the seminar with Emma:
Emma will lead a seminar and a hands-on workshop on dance mats. The seminar is based on what research says about embodied learning, cognitive load theory, and how movement can facilitate learning.
About the workshop with Emma:
A dance-based math workshop where you’ll get to explore the materials Emma uses with her students. The focus is on geometry, and the workshop can be adapted for different ages and skill levels.
TRAVEL GRANTS: Is your primary occupation as a freelance dancer or with a dance organization? If so, you can apply for a travel grant from the dance consultant/dance developer in your region (limited number available).
