A Philosophically Enriching Journey of Discovery
“Hyperspace ” is a visually captivating solo piece that took shape during a scientific expedition to Antarctica. While the ship’s crew explored the ocean floor, choreographer James Batchelor turned his gaze inward instead to explore himself, his masculinity, and his vulnerability.
With research as his muse, Batchelor presents his work with a hypnotic presence and flexibility. His body, covered in small black drawings, transforms into a map of the cosmos, where every movement reveals new discoveries and possibilities.
