Song: Our First Language

Singing is a right and a necessity for everyone—especially for children.

That’s why we’re inviting you to a wonderful sing-along with Kristina Sturk, the Norrlandsoperan’s very own singing coach for our youngest citizens.

Kristina explains: “Singing is the first language we humans have access to, and sometimes it’s actually the last language we have when we’re very old. That’s why it’s important that we have the opportunity to sing together as early as possible and develop this unique means of communication.”

The performance is part of a national initiative featuring recurring activities across the country aimed at promoting singing among preschool-aged children. All children should have the opportunity to sing according to their physical abilities and be able to develop their voices and musicality.

Welcome to a public singing workshop with Kristina and pianist Mattias Kågström. The event will also feature members of the Norrlandsoperan Children’s Choir, conducted by Lotta Kuisma.
