Cultural festival in the City Hall Park

On Saturday 22 August, Norrlandsoperan will move out into Rådhusparken to offer all Umeå residents and visitors a wonderful afternoon of dancing, opera and concerts. In the middle of the summer greenery and with the Ume River as a backdrop, the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra plays summery pieces of music from the classical repertoire, world soprano Sandra Bendrik sings opera and we see the dance duo Land before Time in a performance that combines freestyle and popping. The master of ceremonies is Dan Turdén, Norrlandsoperan’s artistic director of opera.

Practical information

For the best comfort, we recommend that you bring a folding chair or picnic blanket. There are a few fixed park benches in the area, but the number of seats is very limited.

Feel free to bring a picnic basket or visit Nova’s Food Truck , which sells ice cream and pita gyros in two varieties: pork and halloumi. You will find their cart above the fountain in the park.

Toilets are not available in the concert area. Instead, we refer to nearby public toilets.

15.00 – 15.30
Land Before Time (Joanna Holewa Chrona and Yared Tilahun Cederlund) with the performance Waterkind. The performance explores the invisible, but strong, connection between two bodies without physical contact.

15.30 – 17.00
Concert with the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra conducted by conductor Alexander Hanson. The concert offers a summery program with a high recognition factor. The soloist is the world soprano Sandra Bendrik , who in September has one of the leading roles in the opera The Galloping Cure , which is performed at the Norrland Opera.

Surrounded by lush summer greenery and with the Ume River as a backdrop, the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra performs summery pieces from the classical repertoire. World soprano Sandra Bendrik will sing opera, and the dance duo Land Before Time presents a performance combining freestyle and popping. Please feel free to bring your own picnic basket or visit Nova’s Food Truck, which serves ice cream and pita gyros in two varieties: pork and halloumi. You will find the food truck near the fountain in the park.

There are no restroom facilities at the concert venue. Visitors are kindly referred to nearby public restrooms.
