In partnership with Norrtåg and Stora Hotellet, we’re working to encourage more visitors to choose the train when they come to see us and to make cultural experiences more accessible to those traveling on the train line from Vindeln, Vännäs, and Örnsköldsvik to Umeå.



Extend your cultural experience with a night at Stora Hotellet

Once the curtain has fallen, the evening doesn’t have to be quite over yet.

Just a short walk from the Norrlandsoperan, you’ll find Stora Hotellet—a historic maritime hotel where the past meets the present. Here, you’ll sleep soundly in thoughtfully decorated rooms and wake up to a generous hotel breakfast before it’s time to continue your journey.

In partnership with Norrlandsoperan and Norrtåg, we are offering a 50% discount on the “Äventyr” room category (Superior with a 160 cm bed) on select performance dates this fall. The offer applies to double rooms for 1–2 people.

Book as usual on our website (via Best Western) and enter the booking code SMART along with the correct dates, and the discount will be automatically applied to the room rate.

Take the train to the opera, enjoy the performance, and stay a little longer in Umeå.

When checking in, you must present a valid ticket for the performance in question as well as a Norrtåg train ticket.

Rail routes

This offer applies to train travel to and from Vindeln, Vännäs, and Örnsköldsvik (as well as subsequent stations all the way to Umeå).

Discount Code

Enter the discount code SMART when booking your ticket to get half off the price of your show ticket. Select the regular price and enter the code SMART.

Train tickets can be booked at norrtag.se Select “Adult” and enter the discount code SMART to receive half-price train travel. The discount applies to all Norrtåg departures between Umeå and Vännäs, Vindeln, and Örnsköldsvik on the current performance date and the following date (to allow for an overnight stay in Umeå).

Show your train ticket at the entrance

Have your current train ticket ready to show along with your show ticket at the entrance. The same applies on board the train, where you must show both your train ticket and a valid show ticket together.

The Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra will perform Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto and Schubert’s Symphony No. 9. The soloist is violinist Liya Petrova. The conductor is Principal Conductor and Artistic Director Eduardo Strausser. An evening of great variety, ranging from the intimate to the grand.
