About the Workshop
Trailblazer Legendary Mother Leo Saint Laurent invites everyone over the age of 18 to immerse themselves in Ballroom and Voguing. Ballroom emerged in New York during the 1960s and 1970s, created by Black and Latinx trans women. Since the scene was founded by—and for—people who have faced discrimination, its physical expression is closely intertwined with activism and social engagement, both within and outside the community.
During the workshop, you’ll get an introduction to the various performance styles and categories within Ballroom, such as Vogue Fem, New Way, Old Way, Runway, and Face. We’ll start with a warm-up that focuses on flexibility, strength, and basic elements such as posing—a central aspect of Ballroom. Afterward, we’ll explore the different categories through technical exercises, drills, and conceptual improvisations. For certain parts of the workshop, high heels are welcome—otherwise, comfortable sneakers are recommended.
The workshop is open to everyone, and is also suitable for beginners or those with no prior dance experience. BIPOC and queer people are especially encouraged to participate, but everyone is warmly welcome. Unconditional respect and acceptance of BIPOC and queer participants are expected—this is a fundamental principle of ballroom culture.

About Georgina Philp
Georgina Philp, also known as Leo Saint Laurent, graduated from the Fontys Dance Academy in Tilburg (the Netherlands) in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in performing arts. Since then, she has worked successfully as a freelance dancer, choreographer, and curator in the European dance and cultural sector. In the ballroom scene, she is known as Legendary Trailblazer Mother Leo Saint Laurent, who organized the first ball in Germany in 2012 as part of the Berlin Voguing Out Festival. In 2022, she was honored in Atlanta as the first Legend from Germany in the main category, Women’s European Runway.
Friday Night Moves is part of the Attitudes project. Attitudes is a three-year capacity-building and co-creation project in the field of hip-hop dance, which will result in six co-productions for the stage and alternative venues, bringing audiences together at twenty-five different tour locations in six countries. Attitudes is run by CCNRB (FR), Dansekapellet (DK), HOP Festival (ES), Kampnagel (DE), Norrlandsoperan (SE), and Summer Dance Forever (NL).
