Hamlet is sad and angry. His father died suddenly, and then his mother just remarried. And did someone kill Hamlet’s father? At night, his father’s ghost appears to Hamlet. Because now Hamlet is supposed to avenge him and set everything right again.

Norrlandsoperan and Suitcase Opera’s production of *Hamlet* takes place in a fictional small town in the United States during the 1980s. The plot revolves around Hamlet, whose life changes dramatically after his father’s death. The story of Hamlet is a gripping drama set in a world between fantasy and reality.

At the heart of the opera are two singers who, with the help of four puppets, tell a story with lightness and humor about loss and grief, about the desire to turn back time and set right everything that has gone wrong. It is also a story about the feeling of being an outsider and an outcast from the world around us, and about the choice between conforming to societal norms or following one’s own path.
