Talks and musical tastings

Director Natalie Ringler and conductor Nikolas Nägele invite you to an in-depth introduction to the opera The Italian Girl in Algiers by Rossini, which will be performed on the Main Stage at the Norrlandsoperan from October 5 to 28, 2024.

Opera Director Dan Turdén will lead a discussion with members of the artistic team about the work on the production. The discussion will be conducted partly in English.

Musical excerpts performed by singers from the opera will be presented with piano accompaniment by Jonas Olsson throughout the evening.

Italian Culture in Algiers: October 5–28

“The Italian Girl in Algiers” is the opera for anyone who longs for fast-paced comedy and a celebration of song.

The Norrlands Opera is staging Rossini’s classic opera in an absurd interpretation featuring a top-notch international cast. The leading roles are sung by mezzo-soprano Sidsel Eriksen from Denmark, tenor Vassilis Kavayas from Greece, and bass Markus Schwartz from Sweden. The director is Natalie Ringler, who most recently directed *The Emperor’s New Clothes* at Norrlandsoperan. German conductor Nikolas Nägele leads the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra.
