Concert

Beautiful and magnificent, featuring two romantic favorites

Two romantic favorites are on the program, conducted by Eduardo Strausser, chief conductor of the Norrlandsoperan. The evening begins with a shorter orchestral work by Anton Webern, followed by Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto. Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor is full of beautiful melodies and demands a great deal from the evening’s soloist, violinist Liya Petrova, who was born in Bulgaria and lives in Paris.

The evening culminates in Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 9, often called “The Great.” It is a powerful symphony with grand melodies that are given room to unfold and develop.
