Guided tour 100 years after the premiere – to live music

The unique silent film concert With acja and reindeer in Inka Länta’s winterland / Gierrisij ja hiergij Lenta Iŋŋgá dálvveednamin premiered during Tromsø International Film Festival 2025. The music for the film is performed live by Hildá Länsman, Svante Henryson, Tuomas Norvio and Lávre Johan Eira.

The film is a hybrid between documentary and staged fiction, created in 1926 by Erik Bergström. It follows Inka Länta and her family in everyday life and during Jokkmokk’s market. It depicts Sami life in the northern part of Sweden in the 1920s and includes scenes from the nomad school. Thanks to a digital restoration in 2021, where the film’s original colors were recreated, it is now available for viewing again – almost 100 years after its premiere.

The concert is a collaboration between Umeå Film Festival and Tromsø International Film Festival as well as Norrlandsoperan, Umeå Theatre Association, Arctic Pulse and Interreg Aurora.
