Sjaddo – Liv Aira
“Sjaddo” means “seed” in Lule Sámi and is about growth and development. The movement pattern is about listening to one’s instincts and intuition. The performance begins with a creation story from Sámi mythology in which the heart of a reindeer is placed in the ground, creating a rhythm that also becomes the rhythm of the earth. We witness the construction of a Sámi kåta, which also symbolizes the building of a community and the need to work together. The music is an electronic soundscape featuring local joik singers from the Jokkmokk area—where Liv Aira herself is from. The performance *Sjaddo* aims to spark the audience’s curiosity about Sámi culture and strengthen the identity of minority groups.
