Piano favorites with Norrdans

What is a classic? Nice and ugly, ugly is nice and up is also down if you hang by the creases of your knees from a branch.

Messy romance, megalomania and idol worship

In this summer version of Piano Favorites with Norrdans, Martin Forsberg examines taste and aesthetics. Together, an international ensemble and a classical pianist meet. It will be danced to the most disjointed repertoire in all seriousness. Für Elise, Moonlight Sonata, Aria from the Goldberg Variations.

The music and dance meet a stream of text written by Rebecka Berchtold. It promises high and low, music and dance history, beautiful and ugly in a celebratory mix. Norrdans mixes and gives an anarchic dance carnival.

“For me, the work is an abundance of great emotions; sticky romanticism, megalomania, intense listening and idol worship. It’s a cavalcade of dances to some of classical piano music’s most disjointed pieces. We want to take them down from their pedestal, but we also want to listen carefully over and over and over again,” says Rebecka Berchtold.

The performance received the Swedish Theatre Critics’ Association’s Children and Youth Theatre Award for 2021 and was selected for the Performing Arts Biennial 2022.
