Tchaikovsky and Dvořák

An evening featuring two well-known works by popular composers. After an opening with a shorter piece by Anna Clyne, Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 will be performed, with pianist Yoav Levanon as soloist. The concert concludes with Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 6. The conductor is Sora Elsiabeth Lee.

Piano concerto and lively dance rhythms from the Czech Republic

The concert opens with a short orchestral piece by Anna Clyne, *Within Her Arms*.

Next up is Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, with a powerful and famous opening that sets the tone right away. The soloist is Israeli pianist Yoav Levanon.

After the intermission, Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 6 is on the program. The symphony was composed in the 1880s and is inspired by Bohemian folk music. Bohemia is a historical region in western Czechia. In the third movement, for example, you’ll hear a furiant, a lively dance rhythm. The conductor is Sora Elsiabeth Lee.
