Piano concerto and lively dance rhythms from the Czech Republic
The concert opens with a short orchestral piece by Anna Clyne, *Within Her Arms*.
Next up is Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, with a powerful and famous opening that sets the tone right away. The soloist is Israeli pianist Yoav Levanon.
After the intermission, Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 6 is on the program. The symphony was composed in the 1880s and is inspired by Bohemian folk music. Bohemia is a historical region in western Czechia. In the third movement, for example, you’ll hear a furiant, a lively dance rhythm. The conductor is Sora Elsiabeth Lee.
