Sounds of Nature: From the Sea to the Countryside
The concert opens with *Pelagic Dreamscape* by the Norwegian composer Kristine Tjøgersen, with music that evokes images of the ocean and its depths.
Next up is “Trans” for harp and orchestra by Kaija Saariaho. The harp takes center stage. The soloist is harpist Erik Groenstein-Hendriks, a member of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, and the conductor is Izabelė Jankauskaitė from Lithuania.
Next is Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, often called the Pastoral Symphony. The music seems to be drawn from nature itself: streams, birds, and a passing storm. The symphony is part of the Norrlandsoperan’s “Beethoven Year,” which highlights several of the composer’s works.
