Folk music, songs and colourful stories
Systerpolskan and the Norrbotten accordionist Fredrik Hangasjärvi have come together and created a folk music concert with songs and songs from Uppland, Dalarna and Tornedalen. Here, five national fiddlers meet who offer a mix of traditional songs and their own compositions. The songs are framed by songs in both Swedish, Älvdalian and Meänkieli, together with colourful stories.
Systerpolskan was formed when Benny Andersson invited them to his studio in 2015. Sweet music arose and resulted in the critically acclaimed album Striped Shirt. The group performed in Allsång på Skansen in 2016 and 2018 and has played on various stages around Sweden after their debut.
Fredrik Hangasjärvi from Kivijärvi in the Torne Valley is an accordion virtuoso who crosses borders and plays music from many different genres. From 2015 to 2016, he participated in SVT’s production Bastubaletten and he has played in a variety of groups, including the cult band Raj-Raj Band and Fredrik Hangasjärvi’s Orchestra.
