Dvořák, Haydn, and Beethoven

At the Music Society’s fall concert, the audience will enjoy Antonín Dvořák’s Eighth Symphony, which is characterized by a rich variety of moods, ranging from exuberant to more serene tones.

The concert opens with Joseph Haydn’s only and very famous trumpet concerto, performed here by 20-year-old Ellinor Bengtson, who was named “Classical Artist of the Year on P2” in March 2025. This designation means that during the 2025–26 season, she will perform in several concerts at Berwaldhallen with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. She began playing the trumpet at the age of three and has already performed with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and Benny Andersson’s Orchestra. She is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

Next, Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 will be performed by none other than Peter Jablonski, who needs no introduction. What not everyone knows is that he is also a composer and conductor.

The conductor for tonight’s concert is Peter’s daughter Claudia, who—much to the delight of the Umeå Music Society—expressed a desire to conduct the Umeå Music Society. She is a trained conductor and also a cellist at the Royal Academy of Music. In 2023, she founded the Orlando Orchestra, which consists of musicians who have recently completed their studies at renowned conservatories in London, primarily the Royal Academy and the Royal College.
