Fiery flamenco and a sangria in hand

Rocío Molina from Madrid is one of the great flamenco stars of our time. She started dancing at the age of three and made her first choreographies when she was seven. Admired for her technical brilliance and her constant risk-taking, she recreates flamenco with respect for its traditions. Something that has made Mikhail Baryshnikov kneel in front of her.

Her visit to Norrlandsoperan in 2008 lives on in many people’s memories and now she is finally returning. This time with the largely Sweden-based trio Sabîl, which consists of exiled Palestinian Ahmad Al Khatib on oud, percussionist Youssef Hbeisch from northern Israel and clarinet player Lena Nowak from Gothenburg. Together they create Impulso, a furious burst of rhythm and movement.

Note: This isn’t the only flamenco of the evening! Double up on the enjoyment with Taranto Aleatorio by María del Mar Suárez la Chachi, starting at 6:00 PM in the Black Box.
