The dance consultant activity Dans i Västerbotten is funded by the Västerbotten Region and operates as an independent activity under Norrlandsoperan’s dance department. Here, we work for the development of dance art across Västerbotten. You can turn to us when you want to organize dance, see dance on stage, present dance for a young audience, train in dance for your own sake, or develop as a professional practitioner and receive support, tips, or advice.

Dans i Västerbotten, with the citizens of the county in focus, aims to:
1.
Work to give dance a larger place in the daily lives of the county’s inhabitants, with a special focus on children and youth
2.
Work to increase knowledge about the art of dance; its conditions and possibilities
3.
Be a support for those who professionally, or in their leisure time, want to work with and for the art of dance
4.
Strengthen the position of dance in the county and work for high quality in terms of performances, continuing education, workshops, and dance creation activities
5.
Work for equality, accessibility, and diversity in relation to daily activities
6.
Work for increased cooperation locally, nationally, and internationally
How we work
Dans i Västerbotten functions as an umbrella over everyone who works with dance in some way. Here, projects are connected with actors, dance teachers with students, municipalities with dance artists and educators and students/general public to performances. Dans i Västerbotten works strategically and long-term to develop everything from artistic ideas to educational projects. Dans i Västerbotten also works with organizer development and other activities that enable a vibrant dance life in Västerbotten, for amateurs, audiences and professionals alike.
