From a Fairy-Tale World to a Contemporary Symphony

The concert opens with Ravel’s *Ma Mère l’Oye*, an orchestral suite inspired by classic fairy tales. Here we encounter, among others, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast.

Next is Grażyna Bacewicz’s Viola Concerto. We once again welcome Timothy Ridout as soloist to the Norrlandsoperan. After intermission, we’ll hear Symphony No. 2 by the popular Swedish contemporary composer Mats Larsson Gothe. The concert will be conducted by the Russian-American Lidiya Yankovskaya, who currently resides in London.
