Concert

Pomp, splendor, and New Year’s glamour

Step into 2027 in style! The concert opens with the overture to Wagner’s *The Flying Dutchman*, followed by Senta’s ballad from the same opera, featuring soprano Åsa Jäger. The Umeå audience will recognize her from the acclaimed production of *Tristan und Isolde* in the fall of 2025.

Trumpeter Ellinor Bengtsson is the soloist in Hummel’s Trumpet Concerto and later also in *The Carnival of Venice*. The program also features music by Kodály, Strauss, Suppé, and Lehár.

After the intermission, the program includes, among other pieces, the tranquil second movement from Dvořák’s “From the New World ” Symphony and Wagner’s “Liebestod” from *Tristan und Isolde*. The concert concludes with Lumbye’s *Kopenhagener Eisenbahn Dampf Galopp*.

Bring someone you care about and start the new year with music that moves you, surprises you, and captures the true spirit of the New Year.
