The year 2027 marks the 200th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s death, and during the 2026–27 season, the Norrlands Opera will honor the composer with a series of performances. As early as December, the Beethoven Year will get an early start with Beethoven and Sandström, where the Thursday Concert will open with the world premiere of Jan Sandström’s Symphony No. 1, followed by trombone soloist Christian Lindberg performing “Mandrake in the Corner,” and concluding with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2. For those who want to wrap up the workweek in style, there’s also the option of Classic After-Work Party feat. Beethoven who will take the stage at the Concert Hall on Friday, December 4.
“With ‘Klassisk AW,’ we want to attract both regular concertgoers and those who are simply curious about classical music. The performance is a bit shorter than our Thursday Concerts, with a very affordable ticket price. It’s the perfect opportunity to experience our wonderful symphony orchestra,” says Helle Solberg, CEO of Norrlandsoperan.

At Klassisk AW, you can wrap up your workweek with beloved pieces by the most celebrated composers in music history.
Fall Break Concert with All the Extras
During fall break, the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra and Kristina Sturk invite you to the Fall Break Concert, where our youngest audience members will learn how a symphony orchestra works.
“Visitors get to learn about the different instrument families—from violins and clarinets to timpani and trumpets—and they can even try their hand at conducting the orchestra,” says Anna Sjödin, artistic director of music at the Norrlandsoperan.

Nicklas Strömstedt is one of this season’s most eagerly awaited guest artists at the Norrlandsoperan.
In addition to its regular concert program, the Norrlandsoperan will host a number of guest artists. In mid-October, the French ballet company Malandain Ballet Biarritz will perform for two evenings alongside the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra, and in December, Linnea Henriksson will host a Christmas concert alongside conductor Jonas Nydesjö and the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra. Niklas Strömstedt, Viktor Norén, and the Snowflake Singers are a few more well-known names set to take the stage at the Norrlands Opera during the fall season.
“We have an exceptionally packed and varied concert program this fall, with something for everyone. It’s very gratifying that we continue to attract more and more visitors to our classical concerts, family concerts, and exciting collaborations with guest artists,” says Helle Solberg.
