Om att frigöra kroppen från koloniala arv – samtal om kulturens kraft
I sitt kritikerrosade verk of itself: in itself som nyligen hade urpremiär på Norrlandsoperan, utforskade Marit Shirin Carolasdotter kroppsliga minnen av kolonialism och förtryck. Nu bjuder koreografen in till en serie panelsamtal med sakkunniga gäster från både när och fjärran.
Välkommen att lyssna till och delta i angelägna samtal med både samiska och icke-samiska akademiker och konstnärer. Vi samtalar om urbefolkningars historiska och samtida erfarenheter och diskuterar olika strategier för återtagandet av var och ens rätt till kroppslig suveränitet, kulturell stolthet och känsla av gemenskap.

Indigenous bodily rights in choreography – Marit Shirin Carolasdotter
How can indigenous bodily rights be addressed through choreography and performing arts? Moderated and initiated by Marit Shirin Carolasdotter, this series of panel discussions will tackle the questions of indigenous body rights with a focus on decolonial thinking, inviting international and Swedish/Sámi experts and artists to share their work and practice and to engage in conversations.
Sámi and non Sámi scholars have conducted decolonizing research during the past couple of years, drawing attention to historical and contemporary concerns regarding indigenous research. The conference will draw connections between contemporary and past colonial discourse and explore the possibilities for a future indigenous sovereignty over the body, the self and the community.
